Community Access Program (CAP)
The Community Access Program is a federal-provincial initiative administered by Industry Canada that provides funding to designated sites and organizations, including school and public libraries, enabling them to offer free public access to computers and the internet while helping users to obtain the skills to use them effectively.
The Terrace Bay Public Library CAP site consists of 7 public access workstations. The Community Access Program and the Township of Terrace Bay have provided funding for internet-enabled public access computers since 1997.
The library CAP site provide all of the following services:
- Computer and internet access
- Access to online government services
- Use of software packages (such as word processing, spreadsheets, live homework help, etc.)
- Assistance or training
- Printing (see library for fees to cover material costs)
- Access to digital camera
- Use of scanning equipment
